01 - Arrange bread slices on a cutting board and lightly coat one side of each with softened butter using a butter knife.
02 - Place half of the bread slices butter-side down. Layer each with cheddar cheese slices, several apple slices, and drizzle with approximately 1/2 teaspoon caramel sauce.
03 - Cover fillings with remaining bread slices, buttered side facing up, pressing gently to seal.
04 - Cut each sandwich into quarters using a sharp knife or biscuit cutter to create small, uniform bites.
05 - Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low. Place mini sandwiches in skillet and grill for 2 to 3 minutes per side, gently pressing with a spatula until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
06 - Transfer bites to a serving plate and, if desired, drizzle with additional caramel sauce. Serve immediately while warm.
