# Directions:
01 - In a mixing bowl, beat butter and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
02 - Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
03 - Sift flour and salt together, then gradually stir into the wet mixture until a soft dough forms.
04 - Shape the dough into a disc, wrap tightly with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
05 - Set the oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
06 - On a lightly floured surface, roll the dough to approximately 1/4 inch (0.5 cm) thickness.
07 - Using a boot-shaped cookie cutter, cut out shapes and place them evenly spaced on the prepared baking sheet.
08 - Bake for 10 to 12 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden. Transfer to a wire rack and cool completely.
09 - Combine powdered sugar and milk to create a thick glaze. Divide and tint with desired food coloring.
10 - Spread the colored icing over cooled cookies and embellish with sprinkles or edible glitter. Allow to set before serving.
